1. About this policy
Last updated: 13 October 2026. This policy applies to CC Learn, its browser extension, the public website at cclearn.app, and the web account at app.cclearn.app. CC Learn helps you learn languages by translating selected words and subtitle text, explaining expressions in context, and saving vocabulary. For the service operator, see our Terms of Use. Contact support@cclearn.app for privacy questions and requests.
2. Information collected through Google sign-in
If you choose Sign in with Google, CC Learn requests only the openid, email, and profile permissions. Google sends an identity token containing your Google account identifier, email address, and email verification status; it may also include basic profile information such as your name and profile picture. Our current sign-in implementation stores your Google account identifier, email address, and verification status. It does not import your Google name or profile picture into your CC Learn profile. A name or avatar you enter in CC Learn is stored separately.
We use Google identity information to create or connect your CC Learn account, authenticate you, and associate saved vocabulary and subscription access with that account. We do not receive your Google password. We do not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, calendars, or Google Workspace documents. Google sign-in does not give CC Learn access to your YouTube account or private videos.
3. Other information CC Learn collects
Account information includes your email, a password hash if you create a password, an optional display name and avatar, preferences, and session and device identifiers. You can also use supported extension features with an anonymous installation identifier before signing in.
Translation information includes the word or phrase you select, the current subtitle and nearby subtitle lines used for context, source and target languages, and the resulting translation or explanation. Vocabulary and translation history can include the source video title and URL, subtitle text, playback timestamp, and a captured video frame when supplied by the extension. Subtitle search or imported subtitle features process the search query, selected subtitle file, or subtitle text needed for that feature. CC Learn does not collect your entire browsing history or upload complete videos as part of translating a selected word.
We also process usage counts, request timing, provider and model identifiers, technical errors, device information, and security records. Network services receive technical connection information such as IP address and country. For subscriptions, we store plan status and payment customer, order, and subscription identifiers. Card details are collected by Paddle Checkout, not by CC Learn forms.
4. How information is used
We use account information to provide sign-in, account management, and device synchronization. Subtitle text and translation results provide translations, contextual language explanations, and vocabulary history. Usage and technical information enforce plan limits, operate subscriptions, troubleshoot errors, and prevent abuse. Contact details allow us to answer support requests and deliver account or transaction-related messages where configured.
Google user data is used only to provide these account features. We do not sell Google user data, use it for targeted advertising, or use it to develop, improve, or train generalized AI or machine-learning models. CC Learn does not access Google Workspace APIs for model training. Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
5. Translation and AI processing
CC Learn generates text translations and language explanations. A translation request can be processed by our own translation service or sent to a configured external translation or AI provider. The provider receives the text needed for the answer, selected words, language pair, and relevant subtitle context. When the extension uses Reverso, that service receives the requested text; the result is then logged to CC Learn to save vocabulary and translation history.
Google sign-in tokens and your connected Google account identifier are not included in translation prompts. Google sign-in data is not used to train AI models. We do not train our own generalized models on Google user data. External translation providers process submitted subtitle text under their own applicable terms and privacy policies. Avoid submitting confidential information that you do not want processed for translation. CC Learn does not generate or edit images or videos, including non-consensual intimate imagery.
6. When information is shared
We do not sell personal information or share it with advertising networks or data brokers. Google processes the sign-in interaction under its Privacy Policy. Hosting, network, and database providers process account and technical data needed to deliver and secure CC Learn. Email delivery providers process the recipient address and message needed to deliver an account email. Translation providers receive translation text as described above, not your Google sign-in credentials.
Paddle processes buyer, checkout, and payment information as merchant of record under its privacy notice. Account or checkout email may be used to associate a purchase with your account. Access by the service operator is limited to operating the service, support, security, or a verified request. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect users and the service; other transfers of Google user data are limited by Google's Limited Use requirements.
7. Cookies and local storage
The web account uses an HttpOnly session cookie for authentication and browser storage for preferences such as interface language. The extension stores settings, credentials, and vocabulary in browser extension storage. Translations logged from Reverso are queued locally before upload; a queued record is removed after the backend acknowledges a successful upload. If the server is unavailable, the record remains locally for retry. Removing a temporary upload record does not remove the vocabulary already saved on the server.
Signing out revokes or clears the relevant sign-in session. Clearing website or extension storage removes local copies and preferences, but does not by itself delete your server account or synchronized vocabulary.
8. Protection of information
Public connections to CC Learn use HTTPS. Account access is checked before private data is returned or changed. Passwords are stored as hashes rather than plain text, and session cookies are HttpOnly. Google identity tokens are validated for signature, issuer, audience, and expiration; a temporary state value protects the sign-in callback. Google client secrets and server credentials are kept on the server, outside public pages and source-control commits. Database access is restricted to the service infrastructure.
These measures reduce unauthorized access but cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep your browser and extension up to date and protect access to the device where local vocabulary and sessions are stored.
9. Retention, export, deletion, and revoking Google access
We retain your account, Google account connection, and saved vocabulary while needed to provide your account, unless you delete saved items or request account deletion. The background maintenance process removes translation event records, anonymous activity records, and interactive AI call records older than 180 days. Data export files expire after seven days. Other session and temporary records have their own expiry periods.
In Account, you can request a data export, update your profile, or request account deletion. A deletion request disables the account and revokes its sessions, then a background job deletes the account and saved vocabulary. Some technical and payment records are de-identified rather than deleted; payment providers may retain records for legal and accounting obligations. Existing restricted backup copies may remain until replaced or removed and are used for recovery.
You can revoke Google's authorization from your Google Account connections. Revocation prevents future Google authorization but does not itself delete your CC Learn account, revoke every existing CC Learn session, or cancel a paid subscription. Request account deletion in CC Learn if you want the stored Google account connection and account data removed. Contact support@cclearn.app for access, correction, deletion, or other privacy rights available where you live; we may verify your identity before acting.
10. International processing and policy updates
CC Learn and its service providers may process information in countries other than yours. Information is used for the purposes described in this policy and subject to applicable privacy requirements. We will update the date and content of this page when our practices change and provide notice in the service for material changes to Google user data processing.
